COLOR CODE unc7-1 June 1987
Codes taken from MRC Neuron Charts April 16, 2008; DHH
This young adult (?) has been extensively reconstructed in the anterior ventral cord. The most synaptically-active ventral cord axons were reconstructed using a red and blue color code. Many chemical synapses and some gap junctions are visible on the prints. The latter feature is significant since this gene encodes an innexin believed to be part of certain gap junctions formed between ventral cord interneurons and motoneurons. Unexpectedly, the loss of unc-7(e5) (alone) is not sufficient to disrupt many of those contacts.
This dataset stems from original unpublished work by John White and colleagues at the MRC.
